This our first front cover is a five color process with a clear varnish drawing the figure forward.
An unusual treatment that caused quite a stir in the pblishing world. In addition it suprised all who collected this first issue
that we printed a tattoo magazine on the finest clay coated paper stock.

Tattoo advocate had purchased the rights to reproduce a number of pulp magazine DIME DETECTIVE serialized stories of a fictional character
called "Needles Mike Mcnally" By William E. Barrett . "Needles" was a tattoo artist /detective .
The back cover of Tattoo Advocate featured a copy of the original pulp cover

LITERARY ARTICLE

I had the concept to introduce to the concept to the world that tattooing had totally influenced creative people of the greatest
skills on virtually every level of creative output. We began a series of articles on visual artists musical
performers as well as political/historical figures who had been influenced by tattooing as an art form.

Jack Dann is an award winning science fiction writer, he had givien his creative muse the freedom to explore tattooing
as a metaphore in one of his most harrowing stories "Tattoos" Our first published connection to the greater creative world.

The first time in History a major literary figure shows up in a tattoo magazine.
