Brings a scuptors eye to the surface of his paintings many of the paintings raise 4" to 6" off the surface
of the canvas and often go out onto the walloff the limits of the geometry. Shotsie has
been experimenting for 6 years now with polymer materials to create these undulating forms.
The paintings are all acrylic with the addition of 24Karat German Gold leaf. Many of the paintings
are completed by framing in handwrought blacksmith rusted patina iron frames. The works on paper
are a personal statement by Shotsie on the elements represented in the acrylics. Spoken in the
language of calligraphy and subconcious metaphores for spiritual experiences they are played out
in a graphic form. The paintings and graphics in this series are all in the conceptual realm
of spiritual grammer. Each having some dealing with the idea of the "Axis Mundi" Which is the
still point in the Buddhist texts and a conceptthat permeates the cannons of most religious thought.
As in the painting "Axis Mundi Fire" the still point from one is not moved by desire or fear is
surrounded by fire. The fire of he Hindu God Agni is the transformational experience of the
burning off of ego blocks to enlightenment. Enjoy the paintings as a visceral experience, they are
